After launch we check in Search Console whether Google is adding your pages to its index.
Common problems in Shopify stores
Shopify takes care of much of the technology. Some points still have to be set up by hand.
The same product under several addresses
Shopify shows a product under /products/… and also inside every collection under /collections/…/products/…. The canonical tag and internal links should point to the same address, otherwise Google may pick the wrong one.
Themes and apps that slow the store down
Every app can load its own code into the store, and leftovers of removed apps can stay in the theme. We check what is really needed when a page loads.
Incomplete product schema
Price, availability and reviews belong in the machine-readable data of every product. Where they are missing, Google and AI systems only partly understand the product. Reviews from apps can be missing from the schema.
Multilingual stores with Shopify Markets
Shopify only adds hreflang tags for language folders once the translations are published. Half-translated menus, theme texts or legal pages weaken the language version.
robots.txt and llms.txt
Shopify generates the robots.txt itself, changes go through the robots.txt.liquid template. Shopify now also serves a generic llms.txt and agents.md. With theme templates we replace them with details about your store.
Thin product and collection texts
If a product has only one sentence, Google and AI systems lack what sets it apart from similar products. We add texts on material, use and differences, and frequently asked questions right on the page.
Selling worldwide
With Shopify Markets one store can sell in several countries and languages. We set up versions in Turkish, English and German, each with its own address and translated product and page texts.
